After a long summer break from making music, I’ve relocated my gear back to my basement lair. There’s an Ikea dining room table down there fully extended with the optional leaves; it could seat a party of eight.
I’ve been getting increasingly interested in the MIDI options on the Elektron Digitakt. It has 8 MIDI-specific channels which would allow me to touch and sequence all sorts of parameters on external gear simultaneously. It was time to buy my first MIDI cables since the one I got over a decade ago with an external controller.
And along with more cables usually comes another box to plug them into, this being a utility MIDI box which takes the out from the Digitakt and splits it into 5 copies, allowing me to control, in this video, a Moog Mother 32, Korg Volca fm and Roland TR-08 from the Digitakt brain. The options are endless as to what I can get away with now.
So I told you all of that to tell you this: I’m continually inspired by these instruments and effects and I’m pretty stoked I have the opportunity to experiment with audio in this way.
This 120 bpm 4-on-the-floor jammer was my first test-run in putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together.
Until next time!
